Launderette love is a blog celebrating the wonder and aesthetics of the humble launderette (or laundromat if you happen to be an American, Canadian or Australian.)
You may think it strange, but I have always had a fascination with launderettes - particularly in the way they look, the characters who frequent them, the people who work there, how the neon-lit machines hum and gargle away into the night ... they're magical, timeless, and all so very different.
I like to think that the first photograph taken, of a man asleep in the window of a launderette in Paris, captures the essence of what this blog is about, and I hope that from looking at these photographs, you too can get a better idea of why I think they are so great.
Furthermore I wanted to do something to raise the awareness of the charity 'Water Aid'. I recently read that over a billion people in the world do not have access to safe water and over two billion lack adequate sanitation... as a result 500 children die each day. Just for the record, I do not work for or have any personal affiliation with Water Aid, but I have recently started giving them my support. So, if you feel inclined, please click on the link at the bottom of my home page and give what you can.
Many Thanks,
Will J.
